Not in Europe

Something unimaginable to happen in Europe: a smooth and very democratic acceptance of a defeat in terms of elections.
Specially here, in my country - Portugal, I can't recall one single moment of a defeated candidate praising his opponent and asking national unity and support for the elected candidate. Here, even the defeated ones have always something to say that it was not a defeat because of bla bla bla.
I believe both Obama and McCain are far above any modern politician from our times.
More than ever, they showed us that any association you have to a party is not worth your integrity. McCain proved that came out not diminished, but as a person with a character and with moral and ethical principles.
All this makes the victory of Obama even greater, more complete.

Poem about Integrity

You struggle and struggle

For integrity

Yet

You have no integrity,

You say.

I tell you,

You don't have to cry

For integrity!

Integrity will run

To embrace you

If you just request

Your heart-friend

To look after it.

Just speak to your heart-friend.

Lo, all integrity is yours.

Nobody said it was easy

Nobody said it was easy.
I personally think that, right now, some hours after the most important moment of his life, Barak Obama has this statement striking his head "nobody said it was easy". One of these days, I was listening to this song "The Scientist" by Cold Play and the lyrics continue striking my mind as I think in this election.

Nobody said it was easy

Oh it's such a shame for us to part

Nobody said it was easy

No one ever said it would be so hard

I'm going back to the start

I don't know much about Obama, what I know is what I heard on TV news and from some articles from TIME and NEWSWEEK magazines. But for one thing I am sure, America will never be the same. Americans emancipated because they decided to look to the heart and mind of a man and not to his colour - that's something great to happen if we think that Americans sometimes are very hypocritical: usually say something and do just the opposite, a kind of a wolf in sheep's clothing.

Now, Barak Obama, it is not going to be easy, but I believe you already know it and it is time to set to work.
